ST. FRANCIS PRAYER
Sterling Silver Mobius Bracelet

How can all of a 52-word prayer fit on a single bracelet? Because it's stamped onto a Möbius strip, a circular "plane without end" having only one surface. Accepted as a sign for infinity, it is also an ideal symbol for prayer. Oval shape is 2 3/4" by 2 1/2" in diameter; band is 1/4" wide; fits up to an 8" wrist. Sterling silver, 1/2 ounce, made in USA. Includes attractive gift box and info card.

Inscription on the bracelet: Lord make me an instrument of thy PEACE. Where there is hatred let me sow LOVE, Where there is injury PARDON, Where there is error TRUTH. Where there is discord HARMONY where there is doubt FAITH where there is despair HOPE where there is darkness LIGHT and where there is sorrow JOY.

Saint Francis of Assisi

St. Francis was born in the Italian city of Assisi in 1181 or 1182 to a wealthy merchant family and baptized Giovanni di Pietro Bernardone. He was renamed Francesco by his father. After a wild and carefree youth, he was taken captive during a war between Assisi and the neighboring city of Perugia; he was imprisoned and ill for a year, and his mind began to turn to religion. Upon his ransom and release, he renounced his family's wealth and privilege, and took the Gospel as his rule of life, dressing in rough clothes, begging for his sustenance, and preaching purity and peace. Francis called for simplicity of life; poverty and humility before God. He began to attract followers, even in the materialistic culture of the day, and with papal blessing, founded the Order of Friars Minor or "little brothers" (Franciscans), based on a simple statement by Jesus: "Leave all and follow me." In 1212 Clare of Assisi became his spiritual student, which led to the founding of the Poor Clares. Francis expanded the order's ministry beyond Assisi, making missionary journeys preaching conversion and forgiveness, which he saw as the means of peacemaking. He traveled to Spain, France, Switzerland, Dalmatia, and even to Syria, the Holy Land, and Egypt during the Fifth Crusade. He tried to be a peace-maker between the Christians and Muslims, going so far as to enter the camp of the Sultan, again preaching conversion of heart and forgiveness. He reached out to and revered all created things, preaching to the animals and birds and fish with compassionate love. St. Francis died in 1226. He is known as the patron saint of animals, the environment and Italy.

Hey- I found my bracelet that slipped off my wrist while hiking. I returned to the trail and the sunshine hit the sterling silver perfectly- lit right up for me... it is now on my wrist and I am most careful- still have those darn small wrists. I have purchased one for my friend and plan on purchasing a few more. Love the poem and love the bracelet. Thank you for your beautiful work.

My beautiful bracelet just arrived in the mail yesterday. I wore it today and it fell off my wrist during the 5 hours I had it on. My suggestion if you have a 6-6.25 inch wrist then maybe don't buy. The bracelet is just too big. I am so sad, MaryKay

This is a beautiful bracelet, well made and fits well. The writing is easy to read, very well done. The bracelet would make a wonderful gift (it did, I bought it for myself for my birthday.) For those interested in purchasing, my wrist size is 6.5 and the bracelet is fine, does not slip off my wrist. Any smaller, though, and it probably would.

The mobius bracelet is lovely and well made. However, it is definitely only for those with a very small wrist.

This is an absolutely lovely bracelet. I have purchased about 12 of them over the past few years. This was my son's favorite prayer and we wear them in memory of him. The one I wear I purchased in 2009 and I wear it everyday and it is as beautiful as the day I received it.
