Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration: Clyde, Missouri

The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde, Missouri were founded by Mother Mary Anselma Felber, who came in 1874 with a small group of sisters from Maria Rickenbach in the Swiss Alps. The sisters worked as teachers, farmers, makers of liturgical vestments and altar breads, operated a printery, and established a correspondence department.

They are called to a ministry of prayer, with a tradition of unceasing adoration of Christ in the Eucharist. As Benedictines they live under a Rule and a prioress. They strive to witness to God's presence in the world through their community life and by offering a welcoming space for silence, prayer, and spiritual hospitality in a shared environment of monastic peace.

Today they continue to support ourselves through altar bread work, soap making, and correspondence. They persevere in cultivating the earth with landscapes and vegetable and flower gardens. And they carry on the labor of love through the monastic life - in service to one another and the Church.

I love this soap which I purchased at Holy Cross Abbey in Berryville, VA at their gift shop. It smells wonderful and lasts a long time. All the scents are good, lemon and Swiss lavender are favorites.
