St. Feuillien Brune (ABV 7.5%) has a marked ruby brown color with a generous and lasting head.

Its distinctive aroma reflects the wide range of ingredients used in its production. The fruitiness resulting from its fermentation blends harmoniously with a dominant licorice and caramel flavor. The body is decidedly malty. The bitterness is the result of a complex alchemy between the fine hops and special malts used; the malts also give St. Feuillien Brune its rich, dark appearance.

Brasserie St. Feuillien ("Foo-Yen") had its start in the 7th century, when an Irish monk named Foylan or Foillan—a name which later was translated into the more French "Feuillien"—was killed in the village of Le Roeulx. A chapel was built in his honor, which, over time, became the Abbey St. Feuillien du Roeulx. The abbey featured a brewery to support itself, but was destroyed in the French Revolution. In 1873 the Friart family resumed brewing operations and to this day a portion of the proceeds is donated to charitable causes around the world, making St. Feuillien one of Belgium's oldest and most authentic Abbey Ales.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Rich and sumptuous, drinking this beer is like attending a well anticipated event. For dark beer fans, the flavor profile uniqueness in St. Feuillien Brune will please a wide variety of palates, and will exceed expectations of the most seasoned Belgian beer drinker familiar with this beer style. Our sample was a little over a year old, and still had a great deal of liveliness to it. The aging potential of this beer is excellent - 3-5 years, possibly more. Yet another world class beer from Brasserie St. Feuillien, you will want to seek this one out for sure - it is another must have. For more, visit our BREWVIEW ON ST. FEUILLIEN BRUNE:
