  These cookies were so fresh! I was a little worried about ordering them thru the mail but they are not available in my community, so I took a chance and so glad so did. I will be ordering more next Christmas!

  My mother used to bake Springerle, from scratch. She had her own special rolling pin with the relief carvings. The smell and the taste have never left me. I actually think I enjoyed the raw, yellowish, dough more than the baked cookies. They were so very special. The cookies I bought were delicious and brought back many wonderful memories.

  The cookies were perfect in color and form. I make them every year but my oven wasn't working. I compared the taste. I would guess that your recipe uses anice oul. It was much too strong! Mine sit overnight on Anice seed and the flavor floats deliciously. I think you should use way less oil, or try my method. I won't order them again.

  By far the finest Springerle Cookies I have ever had. My Dad loves this and I remember getting a few when I was a kid, but I actually don't ever remember them being this good. I sent some to him, and he agreed. Don't stop what your doing, they are increasingly hard to find, and there are a bunch of us that Christmas would not be the same without them

  When I was a child one of my favorite events was going to a bakery in Louisville that sold Springerles during the Christmas season. When I grew up and married a military man we were stationed in Germany and I was able to enjoy them again!! This year I found the monastery online and ordered a box - I was overjoyed when I opened the box - the scent of the cookies filled the room and took me back to some of my fondest memories in life. I am no 80 years old and semi-retired from my travel agency business but I will recommend the monastery to all my clients for a journey into a wonderful world of culinary specialties. My order was on time, presented in not only a nice box but also with a picture of the monastery and additonal info. Thank you - Thank you - Thank you.

  Really tasty springless I like how fluffy they are but they are missing the anise seeds on the bottom that I think would really hit the spot. My dad made them crunchier and thinner which were great so I almost wish they had a bit of a crunchier shell but still overall very good, even though they are missing anise seeds on the bottom.

  I remember when I was a kid we had Springerle cookies. I was told you had to have a Springerle board to make them I loved them and apparently they are a Christmas time thing. Being able to get them again sure brought back great memories.

  Like most reviews, these transported me back to my childhood. My mom & aunt always made these German cookies and now that my mom is in assisted living I surprised her with these! I bought a box for her & one for me. My favorite part is the anise fragrance when you first open the box. They are delicious and beautiful. Thank you!

  This cookie reminds me of the Anise cookies made by my grandmother, whose recipee none of us could quite duplicate. The only thing that could make this cookie better would be the appearance of Anise seed in the cookie. So delicious, and wonderful density. I will order these again.

He was reminiscing about his childhood and how his mother used to make Springerle cookies and how he missed them. So, I ordered 2 dozen for him as a birthday present.   My grandmother and mother used to make these lovelies. They are such a good cookie. The flavor of anise comes through. The only thing that is missing from my relatives recipe are the caraway seeds. Grandma used to put them in her batch so my Mom carried on the tradition. Thank you for such a great memory and good tasting cookie. I have purchased a couple of times.   I don't remember what my German grandmother called them, but they were delicious. My Mom inherited the printed roller pin and she continued the tradition. They were made for the Christmas holiday and I just loved them. They were harder and if I remember correctly, she used to put some caraway seeds in them. I loved the taste of anise. They were so special that when I found these on your website, I had to buy them. Yours are softer, but very similar to what I had as a child. I thank you so much for making them. Truly, it brought back wonderful memories. They are a cookie that you savor with a cup of tea or just by itself. Thanks again, Susan.
