In 1997, founder Will Keller wrote nearly 350 monasteries and religious communities in the United States and Canada and asked them about products they make and sell to the public. During this research, he discovered that, while these community businesses have numerous high-quality products, often they do not have the time or resources to reach a wide audience. Hence, the concept of Monastery Greetings was born and tailored to meet their marketing needs.

Monastery Greetings is the only printed catalog and website in the USA that sells only products from monasteries, convents, abbeys and hermitages. The first catalog was launched on a small scale in the fall of 1999. In 2002, we were honored by the monks of St. Joseph's Abbey, in Spencer, Massachusetts when they asked Monastery Greetings to handle retail mail order fulfillment of Trappist Preserves (an award-winning product line that includes 30 flavors of preserves, jellies, conserves and marmalades and is the largest monastic business in the United States.) Today, through the Monastery Greetings catalog and website, more than one hundred religious communities now make their products available.

Similar to the way we handle Trappist Preserves for St. Joseph's Abbey, we would like to act as a fulfillment services for products made by other religious communities. Also in the future, Monastery Greetings wants to be a place where these community businesses can share ideas about marketing and product development.

The long-range vision for Monastery Greetings is to gather monastic products from all over the world.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

Shipments within the continental USA are usually made by UPS (United Parcel Service). For this reason, you must supply a street address. Some orders, particularly those with a low shipping weight, will ship via US Postal Service (usually Priority Mail), when appropriate.

Most orders placed on a weekday will ship the following day, if items are in stock. Orders placed during the weekend will generally ship on Monday. Although most orders ship out in one or two business days, between Thanksgiving and Christmas we are very busy, and, therefore, we ask that you allow two or three additional business days to ship.

Our 48-hour shipping commitment excludes weekends, holidays, closings due to extreme weather conditions and other related delays. Although we work hard to keep all our products in stock, occasionally out-of-stock items will delay your order. In this case, we will notify you when you place your order by phone, or you will be notified by email when you place your order via our website.

If a PO box is required, please contact us before ordering. We will let you know your shipping options, along with the exact shipping charges. Nothing will be charged until you agree to these shipping costs.

Monastery Greetings will no longer ship orders to foreign countries, U.S. territories (except Puerto Rico) or military addresses. Because of various customs regulations, frequent damage in transit and rising shipping costs, we have been forced to stop shipping to these locations. We will continue to ship to all non-military addresses in the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Please accept our apology for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your understanding.PLEASE NOTE: Monastery Greetings will not ship food products in glass (including Trappist Preserves) and glassware (including beer glasses) to foreign countries, Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico. We made this decision because of ongoing problems with breakage and spoilage of items shipped outside the lower 48 United States.
