Imported from Russia VIRGIN & CHILD TRIPTYCH Based on traditional Eastern iconography, the center panel portrays a peaceful nighttime Nativity. The Virgin holds the infant Jesus, accompanied by ox, ass and sheep, with the star of Bethlehem overhead. On the left panel are Joseph and three blue angels who herald the birth. On the right panel three more angels and Mary's birth attendants all look on. Gold and silver foil highlights. 4 7/8 " X 7 3/8 " closed; span of 10 1/8 " open. Attractive gift box.
