ST. FIACRE
Garden Plaque
The patron saint of gardeners, St. Fiacre lived in a hermitage in 6th century Ireland until unwanted fame as a healer and holy man caused disciples to flock to him. Seeking greater solitude, he left his native land and sought refuge in France. There, he built an oratory in honor of the Virgin Mary and a cell where he lived a life of prayer, fasting, mortification and manual labor in his garden.
