BORNE BY GRACE
Songs of Praise & Contemplation
This collection of contemplative songs draws its keynote from "Prayer to the Divine Tutor" by Clement of Alexandria (150-215 CE), which inspired the title song. As one of the earliest teachers of the Christian mystical way, Clement was vividly aware of being borne by grace -- of being birthed and carried, bathed and swathed in the numinous field of divine energy which Christians call Holy Spirit. Likewise, mystics throughout the ages have known the experience of being borne by grace as a vibrant spiritual awakening and growth into the fullness of life.
Borne by grace, we are drawn toward the discovery of our original nature, and with it, our true birthright and our inheritance. Borne along by grace, we find ourselves on the path to our real homeland, inspired to sing in our mother-tongue ecstatic hymns of thanksgiving and praise. These are songs that have welled up within me, in response to the mystery and mercy of such blessing.

Songs for the Paschal Journey

Stations: starting places, ports of call, junctures and stops along the way. In the Christian tradition fourteen stations sign The Way of the Cross, and have become a devotional itinerary etched in the hearts of disciples who seek to follow Jesus on an arduous and glorious path of transformation. During the season of Lent, Christians set out again and again on this paschal journey, and by means of spiritual practice and liturgical celebration, trace ever more deeply the pattern of christic renewal on their own experience of being. In great cultic circles we sing aloud our passionate hymns of acclamation; in the solitude of our hearts we chant our most intimate prayers for reconciliation, healing and rebirth. We sing because we are alive; we sing to become more alive, by raising up all the dying in which new life has its source. These are the songs of one such paschal community, the Benedictine Grange, a liturgical community in West Redding, CT.

SABBATH
Songs for Worship
There is an art to keeping the Sabbath day, and praise is its form. It is a day for singing our wonder at being alive. On the Sabbath we gather the world in our song and offer it as a sacrifice of praise. On the Sabbath we draw the Spirit's own breath to sing of the mystery that first sang us forth from the infinite silence of all beginnings. On the Sabbath day we join the choir of all beings to intone in inexhaustible harmonies the hymn of creation – renewed and restored in the liturgy of thanksgiving.
These songs are the fruit of "endless Sabbaths," shared by the liturgical community at the Benedictine Grange of West Redding, Connecticut. As they have sustained our worship and transformed our hearts for decades, we offer them to the Christian community, hoping they may enrich the art of Sabbath-keeping for other worshippers as well.
