Imported from Ireland ST. BRIGID'S CROSS
Recall the story of Ireland's beloved patron St. Brigid with this 4.5" resin St. Brigid's Cross. Born the daughter of an Irish chieftain circa 453 AD, St. Brigid became a nun whose desire was to relieve the misery and hardship of the poor.
The popular tradition of the woven St. Brigid's cross is based on the story of her visit to a dying pagan chieftain. To illustrate the significance of the Christian faith she quickly wove a simple cross from the rushes strewn on the floor. From that time on, the woven rush cross became synonymous with the saint. Commonly hung over the doorway in an Irish home to bless and bring luck to every person who crosses the threshold.
Cross has loop for hanging; comes mounted on info card as shown.

Imported from Ireland MONASTERBOICE CROSS (large)
Muiredach's High Cross is a carved sandstone cross from the 10th century, located at the ruined monastic site of Monasterboice, County Louth, Ireland. It has been described as the most beautiful specimen of Celtic stonework now in existence; and among Ireland's greatest contributions to European sculpture.
Bring a reminder of Irish culture and spirituality to your home with this version of the Monasterboice Cross, hand-crafted using 5000-year-old Irish turf from some of Ireland's oldest boglands. Traditionally in rural Ireland, turf (partially decomposed vegetation, which has accumulated in bogs for thousands of years) is cut into sods, dried and used as a fuel. For these pieces, a kiln is used to dry the turf, which is then processed in order to ready it for carving with Celtic designs. 7" H x 2 5/8" W x 2" D, gift boxed.

IRISH PATER NOSTER CORD
Unlike a rosary or Orthodox prayer rope, a Pater Noster ("Our Father" in Latin) cord is a straight rope of beads with a cross at one end and tassel at the other. Originating in Ireland in the 8th century, the cord was a simplified way for lay people to share the prayer life of monks and nuns. Instead of memorizing and reciting 150 Psalms, the Our Father is repeated 50 times -- hence the 50 beads in a Pater Noster cord. With its green beads and olivewood Celtic cross, this cord pays homage to its Irish roots. Instructions and other prayers included. Approx. 24" long.
