Saint Luke's
VIRGIN & CHILD ICON
A great treasure of Russia, also known as the Theotokos of Vladimir. This beloved icon is attributed to St. Luke, who is said to have painted it on a board from the table on which the Holy Family took their meals. Taken to Constantinople in 450, she came to Vladimir in 1155. Repainted several times, only the faces remain original.
