TWO ANGELS
Painted in the Byzantine tradition using egg tempera paint with gold leaf gilding, and adhering to the iconographical canons of the Christian Faith, these paired contemporary icons illumine angels that each bear a scroll with the two great commandments of Christ: "And you shall love the Lord thy God with all your heart, all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength," and "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
The iconology of the angels derives from an icon dated 1664 entitled Saint Simeon the Stylite, and it is of Greek derivation. 18" X 9" each
