SAINT BENEDICT
Gregorian Chant
The monks of Fontgombault dedicate this recording to Pope Benedict XVI, who chose to place his pontificate under the patronage of the glorious patriarch of the monks of the West, their Blessed Father Saint Benedict.
This CD also follows closely after the bicentennial of the birth of Dom Prosper Gueranger, who was called a true son of Saint Benedict by Pope Pius IX. He was faithful to the "Holy Rule" of Saint Benedict, which determined in minute detail the liturgical office to which the monks are dedicated by duty of state: nothing in their life must be preferred to it.

THE ASSUMPTION
Gregorian Chant
When attending a liturgical Office in the beautiful abbey church of Our Lady of Fontgombault, one is easily penetrated with the prayerful atmosphere diffused by the chant of the monks. Simplicity, respect, peaceful devotion: everything leads to divine praise.
The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the great summer feast of the Virgin, has a double importance to the monks of Fontgombault. Besides being the Patroness of France, Our Lady in the mystery of her Assumption is also the Patroness of the Abbey of Fontgombault. This CD includes the chants of the Mass and the Office of Vespers for the Feast of the Assumption, August 15. Includes the complete Latin text with English translation.
