The contemplative Benedictine monks of the Monastery of Christ in the Desert in Rio Chama Canyon in New Mexico were recorded live at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. On the first 13 tracks of this CD they sing chants for the Solemnity of St. Benedict, their patron; in addition, there are 4 more tracks including Salve Regina.

Deep in the desert Southwest, the wilderness wind carries the sound of Gregorian and Byzantine chants that harken back to medieval antiquity. 20 chants from the different parts of the liturgical cycle are sung by Benedictine monks in the monastery chapel; all but 3 are sung in Latin.
